MORTAL SIN Seek Touring Mates For 20th Anniversary Trek

November 30, 2005

Vocalist Mat Maurer of the reactivated Australian thrashers MORTAL SIN has sent the following message to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"[We would like to ask] if any bands would be interested in touring Australia February/March (end of our summer) with MORTAL SIN to help us celebrate our twentieth anniversary year. We would be interested in talking to smaller bands that wanna do a low-budget tour, as well as bigger-name bands on a bigger budget. Please contact Mat Maurer at [email protected].

"MORTAL SIN have just finished recording a single, 'Out of the Darkness', at Megaphon Studios with producer Phil Mackellar. The band will play an end of year 'Black Christmassacre' show at Bar Broadway on Corner of Regent St & Broadway, Sydney on Saturday December 17th where the band will feature for the first time the 10-minute follow up to 'Lebanon' (from the album 'Mayhemic Destruction'),entitled 'Tears of Redemption - Lebanon Part Two'."

As previously reported, MORTAL SIN's new track, entitled "Out of the Darkness", has been posted online at www.myspace.com/chewysinner. The song was recorded on October 29-30, 2005 at Megaphon Studios with producer Phil McKellar and will be released as a CD single, also containing a recently shot video plus live tracks taken from the band's Australian tour with ANTHRAX.

MORTAL SIN's 20th anniversary editions of the classic "Mayhemic Destruction" (1986) and "Face of Despair" (1989) CDs have been delayed due to licensing problems yet to be resolved. The band are currently offering refunds to those who pre-ordered the albums. Those prepared to wait it out a little bit longer will be rewarded with a bonus CD.

MORTAL SIN parted ways with drummer Wayne Campbell and guitarist Joe Buttigieg earlier in the year and replaced them with Luke Cook (drums) and Nathan Shae (guitar). A three-song demo was completed in late 2004 at Party Pig Studios in Sydney. The recording, featuring the cuts "Out of the Darkness", "Lost Within" and "Rise or Fall", marked the first time the band had laid down any new material since 1996.

MORTAL SIN's new album, "Far from Extinction", is tentatively due in 2006 via an as-yet-undetermined label.
